In two weeks the monks of Saint Leo Abbey begin Holy Week.
Below is the schedule for the upcoming Holy Week/Easter Triduum liturgies in the Abbey Church. Abbot Isaac will preside over these special celebrations. All are welcome to attend these sacred celebrations with the monks at the Abbey.
Palm Sunday, March 25th, Mass - 10:00 am
Holy Thursday, March 29th, Mass of the Lord's Supper - 7:00 pm
Good Friday, March 30th, Celebration of the Lord's Passion - 3:00 pm
Holy Saturday, March 31st, Easter Vigil Mass - 8:30 pm
(This is the Abbey's only Mass for Easter, there will not be a 10:00 am Mass on Easter Sunday, April 1st).
Some information, from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, on the significance of the Easter Triduum:
"The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery.
"The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil.
"The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are:
- Mass of the Lord's Supper
- Good Friday of the Lord's Passion
- Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord"
